DIY: Boyfriends Jeans

Boyfriends jeans have been moving around the fashion circuit for a long time. But buying one can be an expensive deal. I mean, do you really want to spend the money on something that is ripped oversized and you cannot wear it to office/college (well most of the colleges have strict dress code- atleast mine did). I sound like my parents! But, hear me out – what if you can make one for yourself? Absolutely FREE!

Now that I have your attention follow the pictures to see what I did to make my own pair of Boyfriend jeans.

What you need to rip it:

  • Your old denims. If not yours – your boyfriends (or brother’s) old denims.
  • Pair of scissors
  • Tweezers

Step 1: Cut horizontal parallel lines on your jeans where you want the rip. Ensure that it is below the pocket line
Pull the blue vertical threads and leave the white ones
Step 2: Pull the blue vertical threads and leave the white ones with the tweezer
This is what your rip would look like midway through the tweezing

And this is how I styled it:

Some cardinal rules for styling your own:

  • Fold the denims
  • Wear them with heels. They give out a very tom-boyish vibe. Heels add the feminine touch
  • Wear a belt if you are using a lose pair of jeans.
  • Accessorize. I cannot emphasize enough that this make you looks very tom-boyish. If you want to add the feminine touch complement your look with a lot of accessories – a colour blocked clutch and some jewellery should do the magic.

I know the styled pic is too blurry! I would be doing a lookbook on the boyfriend jeans soon! In the meanwhile – tell me if this was helpful.

I have a hell lotta old denims that still fit well, but am bored of wearing them…
And now I know how exactly to do them up for an all new fresh look !
    *Re-cycling at its best*
