Last weekend I was stuck in a major soup -what to wear to a party. Oh the usual perils of being a girl (lady/woman). No matter what is your age, no matter what is the occasion – girls can easily spend nights thinking about what to wear. The challenge is that you want to look different and gorgeous.
Pallazo, Skirt, Dress, Trousers – Oh my god! I was stuck. And then I decided that I will ditch my regular wardrobe and dive into my saree wardrobe. Yes, I have a seperate cupboard for sarees. One of the reasons is because I have a modest collection from my wedding days. And then I have added quite a few over the last three years. I know of some other women who store their sarees in a trunk or the wedding suitcase. Anyways, the idea was to fish out a saree that was non-weddingy. You know the non-zari, non-heavy sorts. I wanted to look different but I did not not want to look like a decorative.
And so I took this animal printed saree and decided to rock it with a black blouse and minimum accessory. I think I did pretty good. I felt feminine and elegant and it made a great conversation starter amongst a lot of other girls at the party, who complimented me on the effort of wearing a saree – so that was a plus. As usual I did not do very well at a photoshoot – I just have pics from the party on my phone. But you will get the idea 🙂
So ladies – when in doubt SAREE!! You will not regret it.
