Life has become so monotonous. Office-Home-Mall. This is my schedule for a typical week. Weekdays are spent shuttling between office and home. Shuttling between work and sleep. And then weekends are either spent roaming around malls, or watching a movie. But then how many rounds can you take of the same mall, or how many times can you watch a movie? A weekend getaway was overdue.
And so we packed and drove 250kms away to the Bandipur-Masinagudi National Forrest. The idea was to spend the weekend together, without any worries away from home. The idea was to look at the sunset amidst nature – and not through high rises.
We reached Masinagudi in the afternoon, and spent the day exploring the resort and the surrounding estate. And we saw the most beautiful sunset – with the sky turning into hues of orange red and yellow. We took the night safari into the jungle and did some customary deer spotting. Unfortunately, we did not spot any leopard which are common in the area. But then again – the experience was worth the drive. Pitch dark jungle, and the only light was the light of the spotlight the guide with us was carrying.
The next morning was amazing. No doorbells to wake you up. We woke up early and took another round of the estate. We also spent some time taking in the beauty of the place before we finally left for Bangalore.
This indeed was a quick getaway, but totally worth it. The trip left us rejuvenated. And I cannot wait for another get away already!
